Navigating the Software Engineering Guidebook
The Web-enabled version of the Software Engineering Guidebook uses HTML 3.0.
Netscape Navigator versions 3.0, 3.1, and 4.0 beta have been tested with this
document with satisfactory results. Other browsers may or may not work correctly,
depending on how they support Javascript and frames.
Features:
- Navigate through the entire Guidebook using the Table of Contents in the
lower-right frame. It automatically synchronizes with you as you move through
the Guidebook, so you always have a pointer to your location in the entire document.
- To move to the next or previous activity, click on the name of the activity in the
Table of Contents. To move to the last activity you viewed, use the "Back" button on
your browser. (Note: Depending on your browser, you may have to click "Back" twice to move
back one section - the first click will move the Table of Contents, and the second will move
the main frame.)
- To view an IDEF0 diagram, select the
symbol either
in the desired activity or in the Table of Contents. IDEF0 diagrams in the Table of Contents
are associated with the first activity in any set; e.g. the IDEF0 diagrams for Activities 2.3.1, 2.3.2,
and 2.3.3 are located in Activity 2.3.1.
- To print the current activity or diagram, click once anywhere in the main frame and
select the "Print Frame" option in your browser.
- To save the current activity or diagram, click once anywhere in the main frame and
select the "Save As" option in your browser. (Note: text documents will be saved as HTML.)
- To save an entire volume to your local disk, select the
symbol adjacent to the item you desire in
the Table of Contents.
- To save an entire volume's IDEF0 diagrams to your local disk, select the
symbol adjacent to the item you desire in
the Table of Contents. (Note: Some of these files are very large and may take
hours to download over slow connections.)
